If you’re working with Moriah – or about to – this is your chance to get to know the person behind the phone number.
She’ll tell you exactly what she needs from you in the first 60 seconds of a call to get the deal moving… and she’s got a hobby that might surprise you.
Q & A with Moriah…
- What type of client do you find yourself going to bat for most often?
The ones who are out there working hard but don’t quite tick every lender box. New ABNs, a few credit bumps along the way, or someone who just needs a commercial vehicle to keep the wheels turning in their business.
- Walk us through what a “good ARG deal” looks like to you.
For me it’s a client where the vehicle is business-critical and they have the capacity to keep up with the repayments – even if their credit file isn’t perfect. If the asset is going to help them stay on the road and keep growing their business, that’s usually a great fit.
- Fast Lane or Standard Product – which do you find yourself using more, and why?
At the moment I’ve mostly been working with the Standard product. It’s where we can usually step in when the scenario sits outside the usual lending boxes, which is where a lot of ARG conversations start.
- What do you wish brokers knew before sending you a deal?
That a two-minute phone call at the start can save a lot of back and forth later. If we talk through the scenario early, we can usually work out pretty quickly whether it’s something ARG can help with. Also, if the broker is already accredited with us, they can now run scenarios themselves inside our new portal prior to the chat and I’m always available to help with the nuances.
- In the first 60 seconds of a call, what does a broker need to tell you for you to know it’s an ARG deal?
Usually three things: what the client does for work, the vehicle they need, and what the hurdle is with traditional lending. I’ll also ask pretty quickly whether the client has the capacity to service the rental – once I have those pieces, I can usually tell if we’re in the right ballpark.
- What’s your karaoke anthem – the one you’d belt out if we forced you on stage?
I usually steer away from singing out loud, but give me a few drinks and I’ll sing a bit of rhythm and blues or start rapping along to some old-school classics.
- If you were a ute, which make or model would you be – and why?
Probably a Ford Ranger Raptor – it’s sleek, powerful and built to handle a lot without slowing down.
- When Monday’s chaos, what’s your go-to coffee order?
A large oat latte – strong enough to wake me up for the chaos, maybe add a vanilla shot to make it feel slightly less like a Monday.
- What’s one skill or hobby we’d never guess you have?
Competitive bodybuilding is my hobby – it’s basically a lifestyle. A random skill of mine that I picked up a while ago is teeth whitening and I am fully qualified in the trade.
